Photo Tessellations

I recently developed a set of Photoshop Actions that automatically create a tessellation out of a photograph by cropping it to a triangle and mirroring that piece many times. Of course, we are inherently attracted to symmetry and pattern, so I try to be very critical of the images I choose to move forward with. Furthermore, I process and edit the image to really make something pop… This began as a photograph of a lamp in an iron gate. The patterns are stunning, but I decided to edit one of the lights to look “on” to break the symmetry and create a focal point. This is one of my favorite tessellations so far.
