Vintage

(photography with old film cameras)

Collecting vintage cameras has been an obsession of mine for many years. I like the sense of history that comes with them. Not just past owners, but also how design and aesthetics changes over time. I worked in a small film lab for many years. I began to clean the cameras, re-spool film, and carry a few wherever I went. Various types of film (120, 620, disc, 16mm, 110 and so on) were used, some which were long expired or out of production.

I developed and scanned the negatives and archived them. The images felt mundane or ordinary, timeless or location-less. Perhaps it was this sense of age that forced my hand to photograph in a particular style. I edited and compiled selected images into a book as well as a series of photographic prints.
