(photography with old film cameras)
Collecting vintage cameras has been an obsession of mine for many years. I like the sense of history that comes with them, not just past owners but also how design changed over time. I worked in a small film lab for many years. There I began to clean them, re-spool film, and carry a few wherever I went. Various types of film (120, 620, disc, 16mm, 110 and so on) were used, some which were long expired or out of production.
I began developing and scanning the negatives with no end goal in mind. The images felt mundane or ordinary, timeless or location-less. Perhaps it was this sense of age that forced my hand to photograph in a particular style. I edited and and compiled selected images into a book as well as a series of photographic prints.
